Protestants of the 16th and 17th century, especially the Puritans who I assume this church was of, were fairly conservative in social ideals. It’s just changed in recent times with the top down Catholic and Orthodox churches standing up a lot better to progress.
You can even see evangelicals today who end up being more conservative than Catholics. I really don’t think Protestants have always had a goal of such subversion.
I didn’t learn any history outside of the civil rights movement, slavery, and a tiny bit of basic American Revolution stuff until this year when I specifically chose history classes to learn about what actually matters and is interesting.
I didn’t even know the general timeframe that either world war was in or any of that, but I could tell you the names of all the civil rights movement leaders.
