This is just one of the many major problems with our injustice system. It is a total shit show and nothing but about politics and money. The judge I seen literally profited off of how many inmates were in the jail haha Tell me how that’s not a conflict of interest
I am not a lawyer but sadly I’ve been in a court room enough that I could be a fake one and probably do a better job than most lawyers (ATLEAST from my personal experiance) Most of these lawyers have degrees but have zero to no common sense at all and it’s sad really how our system is set up that we cannot simply defend ourselves and present our own cases etc. I can tell you being a retired combat veteran who suffered a lot of hardship tremendous amount of real life hardship. I was divorcing from my wife of 14 years, I was just getting out of a PTSD program for the 3rd time in 6 months inpatient where they placed me on 6 different types of meds that did not do shit to try and supplement the one drug that was actually aliviating physical pain which was a huge mental health factor because when our in chronic pain it can and will fuck with your head badly. I was honorably discharged out of the army that I served 6 years active duty including 15 months in Afghanistan where I earned a Purple Heart and had all sorts of rewards and recognition from peers, superiors and subordinates alike. Hell I was literally put in for engineer soldier of the year by my LT and his superiors who signed off on it for my many sacrifices in Afghanistan. I almost got to meet Obama for getting that award which would have just been a whole other story in itself being I never liked him. Another words I was not just a soldier I was damn good at being a soldier and hell I have been great at many things I’ve applied myself to. After saying all that which I kmow was unnecessary when my lawyer tried to use my hardship as an excuse the judge and the court took offense to it and literally punished me worse than if I had never tried to do that. In short the court does not give a fuck what your special circumstances are and they will fuck you royally for assuming they would give a fuck and I wish this was not true because they really should take into account special circumstances
So in short that’s not obvious at all and why would you assume it’s fake? At that very second you have no clue who or what this persons intentions are and 9 times out of 10 all human beings are going to play it safe especially in Manhattan. Honestly I’ve known many people who would run out trip and hurt themselves or even if they did not get hurt use it to sue the place or business simply because they can. Sadly many judges now days would award them a lump sum which in turn will shut down that said buisness. Happens all the time and some people even conspire together to perform shady shit such as that.
