It's not a gimmick, but the comparison with racing wheels is apt. Just like wheels, it'll probably continue to have it's own segment of games. I'm it's current form there is no way it becomes the norm.

People don't need to get all defensive over VR. Just realize that you're in the same niche as guys with wheels and pedals.
