Let's play a joke on all the normies and slowly but surely start trying to convince them .40 is the premium cartridge for professionals.

Seriously. It would be funny AF.

It's wild that .40 was probably the most desirable cartridge a little over 5 years ago and like a switch nobody wants anything to do with it.

Do the Taurus G pistols not come in .40?

Side note my favorite cartridge joke that pisses almost everyone off is,

.357 Sig. The stopping power of 9 with the capacity of .40. Truly a superior round.

Lol I was always sad that .357 sig never took off. Seems fun. Shot one at a range once and it was a fun, poppy cartridge.

I've carried a USPc.40 for a long time and it's one of the best guns I know of. Fantastic carry gun and good pistol. Shot IDPA with it.

USP is a great gun it’s on my list of pistols to buy. Also wish more people like .357 SIG I fired one once and it’s a nice hot cartridge and bottle nosed rounds are cool like the Mauser used

Nomoralcompass89 2 points ago +2 / -0

A full size USP is able to fire +P+ if you wabt to run the hottest .40 cal loads. One brand that cones to mind is Underwoods.

It's honestly a terrific gun. If you want to put a light on easier get a P30. Either S variant with the safety or the V3. The P30 is a fantastic handgun as well.

Makes for irritation when dealing with new guys working at the gun store who don't know their muzzle from their breech.

Ask for .357 and they come back with 2 boxes of this abomination of a round.

AngeredKabar 7 points ago +7 / -0

I have the same opinion of this round as I do .45 ACP.

I'd shoot it all day, every day. I'd carry it even. It's a handgun round. If it totally throws your game off to shoot a different caliber, your game is weak and you need to get gooder. But I'll be fucked if I have to pay for it lol.

HKgoneWild 4 points ago +4 / -0

Agreed. If it yeets I don't sweat the deats. And Get good scrub applies here as in every other aspect of life.

That said, price per round, if I'm paying 357 mag prices I want 357 mag performance.

OK so trying to say .410 birdshot is effective at taking down humans at a distance is definitely lulzy...

...but what's wrong with .40?

scruffyusp [S] 6 points ago +6 / -0

It's the cartridge that people make fun of the most. Everyone, everywhere uses 9mm unless they're a burnt out old weirdo with a .45 (hello).

But .40 is actually good. I've carried one for years prior. It has superior penetration on auto body vs 9mm.

And we can make a bunch of people buy them with a covert guerilla campaign

StinkyMcFingerBang 8 points ago +8 / -0

I get made fun of more for having a .380 as my concealed carry. Nobody I know ever seems to mention anything bad about .40.

NoneOfYourBusiness 6 points ago +6 / -0

Always got made fun of for a pocket .380 but my badass buddies that weren't carrying anything refused to take a round to prove me wrong.

AngeredKabar 4 points ago +4 / -0

James Bond carried a .25 and never had a problem until MI5 made him carry a .32.

BaronFalcon 2 points ago +2 / -0

Everyone, everywhere uses 9mm unless they're a burnt out old weirdo with a .45

this one just got texted to my aarp 45 buddy

HK45C is my spirit animal.

Some unfairly sampled ballistics tests, some biased reviews. Some forum trolling. And BAM. You get people saying weird anecdotal shit.

I ran into a guy saying wounding people with .410 birdshot was effective. People will believe any damn thing.

AngeredKabar 11 points ago +11 / -0

I'll always stand by my opinion that the only cartridge worth a damn in those is .45 LC.

But if I had to market something to folks that know dick about guns I couldn't do any better than the judge and governor.

"What's that buddy? You need a gun for protection? Let me ask you, when you hear STOPPING POWER, you imagine a shotgun right? Welp, this revolver shoots shotgun shells. And don't go bragging about it to anyone because it's basically a sawed off shotgun, right? That's the thing too, why would you want a sawn off shotgun? It sprays hot lead at everything in front of you and they are still heavy. Here hold this 32" over under. Fuckin heavy right? Now hold this judge. Now if you ask me, holding that chunk of steel, you feel like Dirty Harry right? Now yes he had a revolver, but it wasn't just any revolver. He carried a Smith & Wesson, the most powerful pistol in the world. Did you know S&W make their own version of this that also shoots shotgun shells? It's not even twice as much and you got some REAL AMERICAN steel in your hand."

You've done this before haven't you? PM me the name of the gun store you work in, I'd like to stop in a meet you.

AngeredKabar 5 points ago +5 / -0

I'm far too honest and probably autistic to work sales again.

Last experience was an auto parts store and I fuckin hated it, it was probably because nobody that walks into a parts store looking for a control arm, sway bar link and ball joints is having a good day and they sure as hell didn't want to spend that $270 at your store.

Probably-Pooping 2 points ago +2 / -0

Are you the guy who sold my dad on that shit? My old man fucking loves the Judge. Swears by it. Claims it’s the best fucking gun ever made. (Also, he doesn’t own one. He just shot his buddy’s Judge years ago.)

He gives me so much shit for carrying 9mm.

To my dad there are two pistols worth owning: anything in .380, or a Judge.

I fucking wish I was kidding.

AngeredKabar 2 points ago +2 / -0

I never worked in a gun store.

But my favorite overheard pre-sale conversation at a gun store went like this.

"Oh you're thinking of carrying a gun?"

"Yeah, but I've never bought one before. I went to the range once."

"Oh yeah? Did you like it?"

"Yeah it was a revolver, I don't remember anything else about it though."

"Well check this one out, I think this one is right up your alley."

"I don't know it's pretty big"

"Yeah man, that's a Ruger Super Blackhawk in .454 Casull. You're required by law to carry something like this hiking in Alaska."

I had to run to the other side of the shop so they couldn't hear my snickering, so I don't know the rest. The main part where I lost it was the Alaska part because that's pretty far away for it to be a consideration for daily carry.

But .40 IS the best. What are you trying to say, huh. Are you suggesting that the FBI was wrong?

AngeredKabar 3 points ago +3 / -0

10mm is best.

Then too many Agents failed quals so instead of training them they reduced the power until they started passing again then the small hands having people complained that the grip was too large so S&W made a cartridge that approximated the reduced power loading but could fit in 9mm length mag.

BaronFalcon 3 points ago +3 / -0

then 20 years later they finally figured out that compared to 9mm they get marginally better performance, less ammo, more weight, more muzzle flip, more muzzle blast, slower follow up shots, blown up guns, mocked by real men...someone else can finish for me, I'm tired

scruffyusp [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

Honestly I'm wanting to get a range trip in with mine. Been a while.

I've got a few kraut space magic guns in .40 myself.

Always wanted to shoot a VP40. That's a cool gun.

Love my P30s in .40. and the USPc .40 is better than a Glock 19. It's why I don't have a 19.
