So good that you didn't even notice China being brought into the western world. You didn't notice that gays were barely shown on TV, and they just want to get married lmao. Now we have tranny generals and heads of state. Thank GOD WE HAD IT GREAT IN THE 90S.
Um, wow. You clearly are not a true patriot like the keyboard warriors that populate Patriots.win. When I was six, I was marching on Capitol Hill every time something happened that I didn't like, and I was writing letters to all my Congressman. You, sir, are not a true American and are not welcome here.
You mean the SANTA CLAUSE is bowing down to Christ ? I say not only bring Back Christ for Christmas but ENTIRELY Remove the pagan Sears idol that has taken away the faith of our children.
And hubris filled atheists and snot nosed redditors alike will quickly point out with froth at their mouths that christ wasnt actually born on christmas and the holiday was "stolen" from the pagans, much in the same way we "stole" the land we live upon today. They fail to understand history and have arbitrary points of origin to which they base all their ("infallible" "scientific") claims.
Theyll find the light and the way eventually as I did. They can't be shown the truth, they have to meander their way through darkness until they find it. Telling someone they're wrong is a sure fire way to have them double down and slight you for believing in fairy tales.
Well the idea among many is that Christmas is a fake holiday. It was "originally" a pagan holiday that the Christians co-opted or "stole," so that invalidates it.
But never do they take into account that its always been special time of year throughout all cultures and civilizations. No, they draw a line in the sand, and that is imaginary line invalidates every cultural transformation afterward.
That wasn't my point. The point is that the date is used as a celebration of his birth, while not necessarily being the day of his birth. In fact we have absolutely no idea when he was born, it's all speculation.
And to me that's fine, I don't live in a world of absolutes. But to your average redditor that's a sticking point that nullifies the entire religion and Jesus himself.
I agree with you though because that's exactly what it is, and used to honour and respect the man during a time that has literally always been a special time.
"Son" and "sun" is an English homophone that has zero application to Christmas. The winter solstice varies but its most common day is the 21st. You are basically repeating bad arguments from atheists and Jews. There was nothing pagan when Christians were debating the day Christ was born, and they settled on celebrating the 25th of December.
I think it'd be easier to find a Nativity set in Afghanistan than today's America. Damn! It was almost impossible to find it in stores, till I went to Hobby Lobby. Jewish and commies completely forbid Nativity!
The emphasis on transactional consumption and the false nobility of financial sacrifice in the name of consumption has replaced the symbolism of gifts long ago.
The modern myths of Santa Claus are a crime against the gospel, imo. Santa brings "gifts", if you deserve them, is hardly a Christian message. It is both transactional and Christmas morning is invariably a physical affirmation of being sufficiently "good" to merit "gifts", while in truth they've probably acted exactly like a child anticipating Christmas.
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
The gospel message will absolutely turn your customers off: You're a sinner, have deeply offended God, and deserve death. God in His love God sent His Son to stuffer torture and death as a sacrifice for your sins. And, this is a gift in the most plain sense, something that has been given to you regardless of merit (in spite of merit, even), that you could never hope to earn, but can reject. And finally, because salvation is a gift, it glorifies God alone.
Ok but, Christmas as a holiday was meant to lift spirits in the middle of winter, when people often died from exposure and starvation. Giving trinkets to loved ones and the needy to raise their spirits, giving glory to God who put you in a position capable of giving in his name, sharing a meal and reminiscing of fond memories, none of these things may be unique to Christianity but they are time honored christian traditions. No one makes anyone celebrate it any particular way. Some families don't even tell their kids santa is mythical. "He was a man that gave presents to poor children in Jesus' name and the memory reminds us to be giving to those less fortunate."
There's nothing wrong with that, there's nothing wrong with letting the flame of a child's imagination burn a little brighter with some "Christmas magic" about hope either.
If all we ever did was denigrate ourselves about how evil and undeserving we are we would never find joy in the lives we've been given, we certainly wouldn't evangelize if all we ever spoke was fire and brimstone. There are times and places for both aspects of the belief system, Christmas is a time for joy.
If all we ever did was denigrate ourselves about how evil and undeserving we are we would never find joy in the lives we've been given,
It is unnecessary to concentrate on that because that person died and was buried in our baptism and we were given the gift of new life. However it is necessary to acknowledge that, because the joy is that knowing that while we were undeserving, we were given the gift of new life. The message is only unhappy if you persist in pride in yourself, rather than acknowledge the gift.
Can i set the holiday discussion aside for a question about this? Its not a new concept or anything it just sparked a train of thought.
that person died and was buried in our baptism and we were given the gift of new life.
If that old person is no more, who is the believer who has backslidden? What of the repentant heart that finds one's self slipping up when they waiver in their mental diligence? Are they not still the same old sinner before they were saved struggling with the same faults from before their baptism?
This is only an issue for those that have been poorly catechised, or have been taught to believe in synergistic justification, believe that works justify, or believe that they can produce fruit rather than the spirit. That is, they believe they must satisfy some spiritual or works checklist to be assured of their salvation. To them I say, sola fide and the work of justification is complete and out of their hands, and baptism is a gift and truly regenerative. Any righteousness given to humanity is extra nos, and comes from outside of ourselves.
Baptism isn't for the cessation of sin, but for the remission of sin. Is a means of grace, by which those sins are washed away by God, and God alone.
Satunalia fell on December 17th and has nothing to do with Christmas. If you choose a day on the calendar, you are going to find a pagan holiday nearby.
When you introduce a new religion to a people and they are going to fold in some of their long held traditions in it. There was no 'incremental steps', it's simply the state of what happens.
Depends on what use of the word you prefer. There are plenty of people who are country dwellers. As for all the old belief bullshit, plenty of those today, though much of the evolving line of knowledge, aka cultural knowledge, was lost, burned, killed, destroyed, etc.
I consider myself more Pagan in spirit, at least, a worshipper of nature, not some fuck who worships imaginary Gods or Goddesses. Not a fucking one ever introduced themselves to me, and faith doesn't fucking cut it. Can't stand 99.99% of Wiccans, and nearly as much with most other NeoPagans. Too much woo woo bullshit. No grounding in reality. If it feels magickal and good, to them, it must be.
Fuck that bullshit. Nature, my thing, is both brutal, and beautiful. It doesn't give a fuck about mystical magical fairy fucking bullshit. I prefer to understand it at that level, as well as the Scientific level. Shit needs proof!
Even before Halloween's over we've got Christmas music in stores. Thanksgiving is totally skipped over, not just for political reasons but that it's not profitable.
Thanksgiving is pretty much just the day before Black Friday sales now. Especially with the push against Columbus, indigenous peoples day, white genocide yadda yadda. It's a shame too because it's one of my favorite holidays.
Hold up, let's back up a sec. You assert the holiday of Christmas isn't mentioned once in the Bible. I reply that the birth of Christ IS in the Bible, and that Christmas is simply the celebration of that birth. Then you argue that the Bible doesn't say he was born in December, that the evidence was that He wasn't born in winter and say that the holy day is Catholic, things I did not assert.
I'll rephrase my original assertion: Christmas is the day we celebrate the birth of Christ, not because the Bible says He was born on the 25th of December but because the Bible says He was born. Seperately I would argue that there is plenty of evidence for a winter birth and against the pagan origin theory but those dialogues always go in bitter circles.
And you have the reading comprehension of one. PS. Thanks for the down vote. It’s a tell tale sign of how pathetic people are when they add a down vote. Because to then, it actually matters, so they take the time to do that. You should stick to reddit.
The problem with Easter is that they base the day on the day of the Jewish passover that uses the Nisan solar/lunar calendar that was picked up from Babylon and not the old Israelite passover that uses the old Israelite Abib solar calendar.
The Buzz Lightyear we need
We had it good in the 90s
So good that you didn't even notice China being brought into the western world. You didn't notice that gays were barely shown on TV, and they just want to get married lmao. Now we have tranny generals and heads of state. Thank GOD WE HAD IT GREAT IN THE 90S.
I was 6 in 1990 man... not sure what I was supposed to do.
Um, wow. You clearly are not a true patriot like the keyboard warriors that populate Patriots.win. When I was six, I was marching on Capitol Hill every time something happened that I didn't like, and I was writing letters to all my Congressman. You, sir, are not a true American and are not welcome here.
thank you for your service, pede
And you were waving your little fist saying "fweedoommmm!"
You mean the SANTA CLAUSE is bowing down to Christ ? I say not only bring Back Christ for Christmas but ENTIRELY Remove the pagan Sears idol that has taken away the faith of our children.
Go out of your way to make the point:
And hubris filled atheists and snot nosed redditors alike will quickly point out with froth at their mouths that christ wasnt actually born on christmas and the holiday was "stolen" from the pagans, much in the same way we "stole" the land we live upon today. I like that kind of attack. It's an open to share the gospel. Smile, stay calm, and kindly tell them the life-saving good news of Jesus Christ :)
Being atheist, I don't really care about when you celebrate a religious birthday. You didn't "steal" anything, lots of people have the same birthday.

Christmas means Christ mass.
It is a holiday (holy day, from holy day of obligation), created by the Church to celebrate the birth of Christ.
That’s all.
It has a mishmash of traditions because you have a mishmash of cultures that formed the base of the Christian peoples of Europe.
I think it'd be easier to find a Nativity set in Afghanistan than today's America. Damn! It was almost impossible to find it in stores, till I went to Hobby Lobby. Jewish and commies completely forbid Nativity!

"Religious holiday" is redundant.
It’s a holy holy day. Got it!
Holy day of obligation
As in, a day other than Sunday where mass attendance is a requirement
But reddit told me it's just a stolen pagan holiday. I asked one person "who did the pagans 'steal' it from?"
Crickets.
What was Saturnalia?
Ancient Roman Holiday!
Satunalia fell on December 17th and has nothing to do with Christmas. If you choose a day on the calendar, you are going to find a pagan holiday nearby.
You mean Yule? Much like Easter, a lot of Pagan things were used to make incremental steps in turning Pagans more accepting of Christianity.
When you introduce a new religion to a people and they are going to fold in some of their long held traditions in it. There was no 'incremental steps', it's simply the state of what happens.
🤣🤣
Pagans are a fucking joke anyway. There are no real Pagans. Just atheists larping as them to hate on Christianity in a new way.
Depends on what use of the word you prefer. There are plenty of people who are country dwellers. As for all the old belief bullshit, plenty of those today, though much of the evolving line of knowledge, aka cultural knowledge, was lost, burned, killed, destroyed, etc.

I wish it was less commercial though.
Even before Halloween's over we've got Christmas music in stores. Thanksgiving is totally skipped over, not just for political reasons but that it's not profitable.
And that’s the problem, holidays have been commercialized and the meanings have been lost. And now they keep trying to pump out fake new holidays
I think that it’s important to keep God and Family as the top importance of any real holiday
Costco had Christmas crap in August. No lie.
Made it a point to tell every employee Merry Christmas. Most understood and agreed.
Thanksgiving is pretty much just the day before Black Friday sales now. Especially with the push against Columbus, indigenous peoples day, white genocide yadda yadda. It's a shame too because it's one of my favorite holidays.
If i owned a big studio, I would be making content with
And it would be fun
Vince Vaughn. Chris Pratt.
Mel Gibson

Be blessed.
Sez the man playing Santa in a film which culturally appropriates a European figure and turns Santa into a black man...
CHRISTmas?
The birth of Christ is very mentioned. Christmas is the day we celebrate the Biblical event. That's all.
Why are you implying I said Christ was born in December? All I said is that Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Christ.
Yes it is, retard. Take your Bible and stick it up your ass.
And you have the reading comprehension of one. PS. Thanks for the down vote. It’s a tell tale sign of how pathetic people are when they add a down vote. Because to then, it actually matters, so they take the time to do that. You should stick to reddit.
Easter should be more important to Christians
I was just thinking this. People want to put limits on what you can say and do because they don't celebrate it? Well, guess what?
I CELEBRATE IT
Yeah… Mandatory viewing.

I freakin' love that guy. Home Improvement is rad.
Based cocaine merchant
Then strip Christmas of everything Pagan so that Yule can be seen as its own thing again! This needs to be done as well with EASTER!
The problem with Easter is that they base the day on the day of the Jewish passover that uses the Nisan solar/lunar calendar that was picked up from Babylon and not the old Israelite passover that uses the old Israelite Abib solar calendar.
Hey man I think Jesus is the Christ as much as the next guy.
but if you think our modern holidays are anything other then orgies of sin i have a bridge to sell you.
my 2 cents
You must attend different festivities than do I.
alot of money changing going on during the holidays.... that was more my point
Isn’t he Jewish.
No
