I was in the Corps with a dude who was 6'7" and looked like he could bench a buick. He was born really early and given a 10% chance of survival. One of the kindest people I've ever known, and a very devout Christian.
My youngest was born 2 months early with his intestines outside of his body and missing half of his small intestine. Given less than a 10% chance of survival, he spent 4 1/2 months in the NICU and was sent home "to meet the family". They gave him less than a year to live. He is now 18 years old and we are having a party this weekend to celebrate his HS graduation. God answers prayers. Never give up. (And besides needing to take some vitamin supplements, he lives a totally normal life).
That’s awesome, quite the journey you went on with him. I bet it’s awesome to see him making the most of life now. Our food is so crappy now vitamin supplements are pretty normal too!
It was a journey for sure. But when I see little guys like Theodore up there, it reminds me of how far we've come. Congrats to Mind_the_attitude and his wife. Keep praying! We are all praying with you.
Me too! I weighed 2 lbs 10 oz. 2 months early, Mom had preeclampsia. Had a rough first few months but I made up for it (or God made a way, more precisely(
And it just gets better. 3 out of my 4 had health issues, premature, cord around neck, momma almost died twice. God is good and blesses those who call on His name and are called according to His purpose. I expected to lose my wife twice and our family is healthy and whole through His blessing.
How much does he weigh? My daughter was just over 2 lbs and also 3 months early. Took a few breaths on her own then spent 24 hours on a ventilator before coming off it. Did really well, had few issues and came home about 10 weeks later at 4.5 lbs. She's healthy and 5 now.
But the NICU was a bitch and it can be great one day and bad the next. Good luck, they have a pretty high success rate with preemies born earlier than our kids were
Reminder that mental health disorders don't cleanly fit into artificial boxes like that. For instance PTSD, GAD, bipolar, depression, antisocial personality, and ADHD are all effectively the same thing with very minor differences. It is shitty language. There are very few clear cut categories of mental illness - psychosis for instance.
I would have thought schizophrenia and Bipolar I would be the most severe of all mental illnesses, and any other types that brought psychosis into the mix.
Bipolar isn't C cluster and it most certainly isn't A cluster. It pretty squarely is a a B cluster.
Those classes are characterized by their most severe examples, and those are just 4 of the most severe B cluster disorders. B and C cluster have a lot of overlap
These are made up for big pharma to sell pills to "solve". A lot of these can be solved with diet, exercise, lifestyle, environmental, and spiritual factors. I was "depressed" a few times, and when I made changes to my life (like move away from certain people, change career etc) these problems fixed themselves. Also restricting your exposure to mass media and social media.
Just because you didn't have an actual mental illness doesn't mean they don't exist. Some of us have been through absolute fucking hell and no amount of lifestyle changes, dietary changes, outlook changes and "pulling our socks up" helps at ALL. Just because every fucker with a little unhappiness self diagnoses themselves as being "depressed" or "bipolar" or "autistic" and reaches for the pills doesn't mean there isn't a percentage of people that actually have real mental illness.
My son was also 3 months early. He’s 8 now. Serious ADHD, but he may just get it from his old man as I have it too. But he takes meds when he wants to focus on something like school work or reading a book. He’s awesome.
my first (7yo) was kind of premature at 37 weeks and has ADHD, and my 2nd (5yo) was premature at 30weeks and we are starting to suspect it in him as well.
Glad to see an MD that can think for themselves in the wild. I still occasionally scroll reddit and r/medical is about the worst sub I come across. bunch of indocrinated socialists. I can't understand why it's so hard for supposedly-smart people to think through why Free Market is better and just because US healthcare has a lot of issues doesn't mean socialized healthcare is better.
Get some hand/foot prints made from soft clay/non-permanent ink. The NICU is a blur when you're past it. You will look back at pics and not believe how much your guy has grown
You just entered the energy drain marathon. The first few days, you may try to stay round the clock in the nicu. It is good to pay close attention to everything going on, so doing so is up to you. Be aware, the baby's weight normally drops 20% or so before it increases. Be nice to the nurses, they will take care of you. After a few weeks, this will start to wear you down if you stay there 24 hrs, especially if you must work during the day. Once the weight starts to increase, dont feel guilty if you and the wife must take some time to rest at home. You need to be able to last until nicu is completed, and once it is completed, you will get no sleep once you bring em home for the first six weeks. You may not have had a room prepared for the little one, dont try to rush it then, it will sap your energy, but once you bring them home, it may be 6 months before you get to work on it. They tried to push a hep vax before leaving the hospital, i declined. Did not want SIDS. They will try to make you feel stupid for declining. Dont let the appeal to emotion work. Prep your wife. When you are both drained you may make poor decisions. Prep prevents that. Have a story ready to explain. Story I used was that we were good with other vaxes (dtap), but not at one at 1 month. Ignore their responses and stick to the story to get past the emotional appeal.
Man, what a rag-tag band of aunts and uncles this little Pede has ! God Willing, when the time comes, we're going to have one heck of a MAGA Family Reunion -- with a whole heck of a lot of MAGA babies and toddlers for us to kiss!
Long road ahead! Talk to him! That’s very important! Ours (Grandson) was born at 23 weeks he weighed 1 lb 6 oz he is doing great with no problems 🙏🏻 He will be a year old in September! Prayers are with you and this beautiful gift from God! Take lots of pictures each month will be remarkable with how he grows! Much love to you and your family!
Now do not let them vaccinate him. They will try and berate and coax and belittle you constantly but hold firm. Make that decision when he is home. Nicu babies regress almost every time after injections.
wait a long time between injections even for full term babies. no studies have ever been done on side effects of multiple vaccines at one time. FYI for seniors with a bucket of pills. No studies ever done on taking five or more drugs at one time.
Dont let them cut part of his dick off either. Pointless procedure that just risks death. Let him make his own choice with his own genitals when hes older.
As an aside, MAKE SURE he’s getting donor breast milk and not formula. I’m sure he is but make sure. If your wife can start pumping to get her milk in, do it
Imagine being some shitbag liberal abortion doctor believing that the child in this picture doesn’t have a right to life. Absolute demons, all of them.
But enough about that, congrats my friend - all the love and protection of our lord on your precious child ❤️🙏
Watch what they try and inject your child with. Maybe they don't do this to the premies but they tried to vaccinate my newborn within hours of birth for hepatitis.
THANK GOD
IM SO HAPPY FOR YOU
Amen. ♥️
I was a tiny yellow guy myself (born jaundiced)
Me too. I was very impatient and decided to pop out a month early. Lucy Lights FTW!
In the 80s they told my mom to put me in the sun. I still get yellow oddly enough
Check to see if you have thalassemia.
I was a month late. 1978
A MONTH? Your mom is a saint.
How poetic.
My mother smoked when she was pregnant with me. '78
I was a small guy at 7 months at well.
Today I am not small, so there is always hope and some cautionary tale.

Which vitamin supplements?
Vitamin D, zinc, folic acid, iron and I give him a B-12 shot twice a month.
OP'S story and yours just made my day! Amen!
That’s awesome, quite the journey you went on with him. I bet it’s awesome to see him making the most of life now. Our food is so crappy now vitamin supplements are pretty normal too!

Tyson Fury was born 3 months early weighing 1 pound and he’s now the heavyweight champ, you never know what a little one is capable of.
He’s a devout Christian too. https://youtube.com/shorts/L2_oghGESuI?feature=share

That was in ‘74. A month prior some new drug to force underdeveloped lungs to work was introduced. Miracle of timing.
Taking your Simpsons role playing a little too seriously? :D
How old? And congrats!!
And it just gets better. 3 out of my 4 had health issues, premature, cord around neck, momma almost died twice. God is good and blesses those who call on His name and are called according to His purpose. I expected to lose my wife twice and our family is healthy and whole through His blessing.
Fuck bro bless you as this must be hard but we are there for you. Every ounce of my thoughts are with you
Praise the Lord! So happy for you all. What a precious baby!
This is great news. I will keep this little man in my prayers and meditations.
I'm sitting here weeping--and for once, they're tears of Joy! Praise the Lord !!! +++
Tagging u/Slechta5614 so our Prayer Garden folks can share in the Joy!
God bless
Amen, rejoicing in his birth and praying for health and blessings over him! And his family!

2 years give or take a bit. She had almost no issues thankfully. Nothing like that thankfully - and I hadn't heard that.
Reminder that mental health disorders don't cleanly fit into artificial boxes like that. For instance PTSD, GAD, bipolar, depression, antisocial personality, and ADHD are all effectively the same thing with very minor differences. It is shitty language. As is bipolar disorder. And anyone who can get a diagnosis for bipolar can get a diagnosis for ADHD.
I would have thought schizophrenia and Bipolar I would be the most severe of all mental illnesses, and any other types that brought psychosis into the mix.
Those are cluster A, and I would agree with that.

Bipolar disorder is not a Cluster B and doesn't overlap with the big 4. It overlaps with autism, adhd, OCD, schizophrenia, Aspergers.

So what is a tranny then? Lol
We can't go around calling people mentally ill if we aren't open to the idea of mentally ill people. Right?
I think many things can be fixed with lifestyle changes and diet, perhaps even most things.
But when you run into a guy strolling down the street in a skirt and high heels... are you really gonna talk to him about diet changes?
I would put that in the spiritual, lifestyle, and environmental factors.
Just because you didn't have an actual mental illness doesn't mean they don't exist. Some of us have been through absolute fucking hell and no amount of lifestyle changes, dietary changes, outlook changes and "pulling our socks up" helps at ALL. There’s no way to know about adhd, a behavioral problem, the day after birth. Come on.
lol, sorry
my first (7yo) was kind of premature at 37 weeks and has ADHD, and my 2nd (5yo) was premature at 30weeks and we are starting to suspect it in him as well.

He’s 1 pound, 9 ounces. 🥲

Edit: congratulations!
God Bless your family; sending tears of empathetic joy and wish y'all the best!
I was thankful my twin children made it t of 36 weeks. They seemed so small when they were born, but then you see the 2 lb babies in the NICU.
Holy fucking fighter!!! Don't you quit little pede. Your aunts and uncles are pulling for you!!!!

My journey from a red gummy bear to a fully formed human.
Having to deal with actual challenges, triumphs, and failures does weird things to people.

Congratulations!!! A beautiful baby boy. My best to you and your wife. My prayers will continue for you all.
Congrats and more prayers for his safekeeping. Well done.

Its a violation of a mans human rights. One should be able to decide what happens to their own genitals.
Congratulations! Praying for your little guy.

This needs to be top comment.
Really - this is important. Buy a pump and if your wife uses it she will still be lactating when Patriot Baby is released from the hospital.
Precious! Congratulations!
Prayers for you and your beautiful baby T.
Natural born fighter!
