Have the greentards mentioned yet where they are going to dig the new landfills in which to bury all those broken windmill parts? They take up a lot of space and aren't recyclable.

there are multiple companies including tesla that are developing recycling technology that is orders of magnitude better than what exists today. my hats off to them for figuring out solutions to problems like this.

Don't worry - you and I will just pay more taxes to the government for the money needed to make battery recycling "sustainable"

3

I've personally observed the Government buy shit just to throw it away...its commonly referred to as a 'subsidy'...

4
dismybrowseacct 4 points ago +5 / -1

I once did consulting for a battery recycling company. It depends on what's in them and what price they're going to the recycler for. Battery recyclers jump through a lot of hoops due to the chemicals in them so if tesla makes the costs right it will be handled between manufacture/reseller and an industrial recycler.

Consumers are a different story. Not sure who's going to take it directly from the consumer. Maybe auto shops or auto retail chains? Some of them will recycle normal car batteries so it may fall under that category.

Nothing wrong with Teslas. Elon is doing everything right.

4
Sliced_Beef_Brisket 4 points ago +4 / -0

There is a lot wrong with tesla from a quality standpoint.

1
BourneTactical 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yep, and not to mention the price to buy one that isn’t basic wheels/color with horrible range.

2
Bob383 2 points ago +2 / -0

Have they figured out how to make them without the coal needed for steel?

1
Sliced_Beef_Brisket 1 point ago +1 / -0

That's not entirely true. Thermosets can be acid digested and then neutralized. The recovered organics can be used to make new resins and the recovered fiber can be used to make new prepreg or preforms for infusion & RTM.

It's more complicated than regrinding thermoplastics and puting it back into the material stream, but recycling of thermosets can be done.

I'll be interested in seeing how the left handles backtracking when the Solar Minimum starts appearing in climate change models: https://science.nasa.gov/science-news/news-articles/solar-minimum-is-coming

6

It says that 2019-2020 is the minimum in the 11 year cycle. And it seems to do more with solar flares and things like that rather than heat.

14
romanhelmet 14 points ago +14 / -0

And Germany, the poster child for green energy, is firing up their coal power plants to peak burn just to provide enough heat and electricity so the Germans don't freeze to death.

Never really thought this whole 'green energy' thing thru did they???

8
Moebius [S] 8 points ago +8 / -0

They never do...

I have watched 'Engineers' design shit on paper, go through 'proof of concept' demos under closely controlled methods. then put their shit out in the 'real world' and discover a host of problems never considered...all while charging their customers for 'refits' and 'upgrades' costing them far more than the original costs.

Wind turbine companies are forced to provide a minimum amount of energy so ANY downtime costs them even more...and ostensibly can force them to shut down and go out of business if they don't meet their obligations...

9
romanhelmet 9 points ago +9 / -0

Yep. Pro Tip. It's cold in the winter and it snows and shit freezes.

7

7
Moebius [S] 7 points ago +7 / -0

Wind turbines are designed to automatically shut down if they become unbalanced (due to blade damage or ice buildup)...

11
Truglow 11 points ago +11 / -0

They have to use helicopters to spray de-iced spray to get them operational. Kind of defeats the purpose.

6

7
Farage_massage 7 points ago +7 / -0

Could we use a coal-powered-electricity furnace to boil water to melt the ice?

6
Barthaneous 6 points ago +6 / -0

You'd think that all it would take to fix this would be a very low voltage thermal heater or copper wiring heating system that surrounds these solar panels and wind turbines that already power the heating systems.

But instead the left and these creators said " nahhh fuck it if it's cold they still got connection to the oil and gas lines".

7
Moebius [S] 7 points ago +7 / -0

To heat a rotating blade assembly would require the use of a rotary power coupling to provide a voltage to the heating elements. Although its absolutely do-able, that is a significant potential failure point requiring close tolerances...especially with vertical surfaces.

5
TurdSammich 5 points ago +5 / -0

Sounds like they need some more global warming

5
CaptainRumington 5 points ago +5 / -0

Nuclear energy doesn't freeze at temperatures we can obtain from weather.

5
SiBear117 5 points ago +5 / -0

Liberals never can explain how solar and wind works at nighttime, raining, snowing, winter, etc. Try to ask the question and they get angry and change the subject.

4
wdang 4 points ago +4 / -0

That's an easy problem to solve, just build a coal plant next to it to warm up the panels

4
hoopinfloyd 4 points ago +4 / -0

Simple solution just go take a propane torch and heat the snow and ice off.

7
Moebius [S] 7 points ago +7 / -0

4
Moebius [S] 4 points ago +4 / -0

Don't get me wrong. Wind and Solar definitely have a place...but we should not abandon Fossil Fuels (especially Nat Gas) and Nuclear on the say so of people with 'ulterior motives'...and certainly not on the word of an exploited 16 year old Environmentalist with 'emotional issues'...

EDIT: Greta is about 17 yrs now...and much more 'worldly'...but still a Ditz...

2
UsedOnlyThrice 2 points ago +2 / -0

Many wind turbines absolutely require some transient power to orient and at times get the blades moving, as well as keep the electronics running and the fluids warm. Some of them can use their own internal batteries for this but often it just comes from the same power main they supply when operational. Also, turbines can be used as a power sink when the supply is higher than demand.

They have an ideal ROI of under 5% though, so it would take 20+ years to start turning an "energy profit" and in that time cause countless issues with migratory birds, insects, AM/noise pollution. This is not to mention the maintenance including lubrication and frost control, nor the installation including the massive amounts of concrete and steel that need to be produced and delivered. These latter issues are rarely addressed when talking about actual benefit to the environment and instead the rhetoric is typically about long term cost savings, which are almost always artificial.

Global Warming is a hoax. Green Energy from wind and solar is real...but relying on it entirely is a dangerous pipe dream.

An example: One State where I used to live, the last time it got this cold was 1898...but JoeBama and Co. insist it's NEVER been this bad and its getting worse...and of course follows that up with 'we're all going to die'...

...and before you start saying it can't happen here it already has...my buddy up North told me they just idled their entire wind farm...

Happy now?

1
allidoiswin 1 point ago +1 / -0

I live in the far west burbs of Chicago, probably 45 minutes from a gigantic wind farm off of i-39. I completely get it and agree it's stupid, but i was about to send it off to some green cucks and happened to notice the date. It may even be happening now, it's pretty fucking cold ATM, but would've been laughed at sending that pic.

That was my point, albeit quite poorly made originally.

1
Moebius [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yea...It was the only graphic I had at the moment so I went with it. Guess I got excited after the text and the call...and I had seen something earlier about it but couldn't find the link... My buddy told me they may be shut down awhile 'cause the choppers they used to de-ice are grounded...for ice...Kek...

EDIT: Send the the link I sent you...it's current and proves the point succinctly. Germany has three times the energy costs because of their embrace of 'Renewables' so the Russkies are making a killing off of NG coming down their pipes...

1
allidoiswin 1 point ago +1 / -0

The thing about this coldass weather is that usually the wind is extremely significant, so it's even worse that they're not working because they SHOULD be producing quite a bit (compared to wind's average, anyway).

Green life.

Moebius [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

Ironically my entire home runs on Geothermal, Summer and Winter and I love it. Had some bugs with the system at first but with a 10 year warranty it was too good to pass up.

In eight years my highest electric bill ever was $170.00...and usually averages around $135.00...
