No, well it came from there, but it's probably more like there is just no other word for it in English that involves only one word that works better. It's like "cuck", or "pede", or "holy shit!", there just aren't many words other that work so well. It just means "method of cooking that uses a relatively small amount of oil or fat in a shallow pan over relatively high heat". See what I mean?
