Well done! What is the ice made of? Reminds me of meth from breaking bad!

It’s just sugar and corn syrup and water. Basically hard candy. It was surprisingly easy to make and tasty.

Thank you! I might have gone a bit overboard with the ice on top but I was excited lol.

No, you didn't go overboard. I thought it looked great, it made the cake, but the cake was really perfect too. The only thing I actually thought was, I wish she would have posted the recipe for the candy ice. I have seen that somewhere, but no clue where. I did see it once, and it was a Brit recipe & the directions weren't clear -- but it said to crush and melt hard candies, like suckers, somehow. Where are you going to find that many of the right color hard candy, in a day or two maybe? I'd rather do it from scratch like you did. So can you post the site you found it on -- I'd appreciate having it. And how did you cut it into strips & squares? Doesn't look like you just randomly broke it up after it was cooled off. Thx!

It was actually really easy to make. Here is the link… https://www.pamspartyandpracticaltips.com/2014/01/elsas-ice-candy_17.html?m=1. It’s just sugar, corn syrup and water. If you want that color you have to use white sugar and just a few drops of food coloring. Neon blue works better I have read. I had to read all the comments to get that information. Once it was cooled off I just knocked the pan down on stuff till it broke up nicely lol. I put a couple drops of doterra peppermint essential oil in mine (therapeutic grade so it was ok to eat). So it tasted like very mild peppermint candy.

I was looking at the link you posted and other photos of colors of cakes, etc. and I found these photos. IDK if I'd ever need to make cake that looked like a spa made out of wood ... but I thought these KitKats and other candy bars made pretty good spas or barrels. Some people are so creative. https://blog.namebirthdaycakes.com/images/dps/350/frozen-birthday-cake_8527.png

and this one looks pretty good, too: https://i.pinimg.com/236x/ad/0b/d2/ad0bd29f43533ea00f0d69c50c903929.jpg?nii=t

Yes I have seen that done before! May have to try that sometime. Looks fairly easy

Yeah, some of the stuff people come up with ... if I ever need a wooden barrel, or something cake ... there ya go. Looks easy, looks impressive.

Thank you! I'm going to look at link, and save it. IDK about the neon blue ... it's pretty, but I really liked that mint green color you made. That mint color appeared throughout the movie too, it wasn't all blue. Yours was a much better choice, imho.

I read that the neon blue helped get a more blue color cause the sugar is a bit yellow when cooked so makes it a little green when you use plain blue. But I didn’t mind that either.

That looks great, wish I was able to eat cake as well.

Well it’s a grain free and dairy free cake but it was still really good.
