Mayonnaise cake is great, it's really moist, with a deep chocolate flavor, but now I want tomato soup spice cake ( from the same cooking era.)

I've heard of these, and I think vinegar cakes? Before and was skeptical. Still got to try them.

Have made this many times over the years. So yummy topped with the frosting recipe from the Hershey's Cocoa tin or peanut butter frosting. And a big glass of cold whole milk. :-) Glad hellmanns.com has it, it's a classic. FYI, if you're yard sale-ing, flea marketing, and come across a cookbook called Best Recipes from the Backs of Bottles Cans and Jars by Ceil Dyer, snap that baby up! And, if you see The American Heritage Cookbook. Or a cookbook from a Grange Hall. Those ladies knew how to cook! Before the internet was a thing, food manufacturers had cookbooks we could order by writing their address and sending a check... Quaker Oats, Bakers Chocolate, Hershey's, Fleischmann's, King Arthur, Bertolli, etc. Cheap, like $3.95. Yeah, I got 'em all. I'm that old. lol
