When exactly did you start your reddit boycott?

I left the day they banned T_D

SauronWasFramed 16 points ago +16 / -0

I confess: I killed my primary account shortly after they banned t_d. Since then, I’ve created a dozen accounts simply to shitpost, accuse the mods and admins of being pedophiles, and sow general discord. I kill them after a couple of months or enough bans to justify it.

I have not been caught by the admins yet. When they really permaban me, I’ll be done.

Until then, I’m there to piss off the left.

ProdigalPlaneswalker 11 points ago +11 / -0

The Donald moving here was the first step.

The only thing that kept me going back to reddit was r/freemagic.

But that hobby became pointless with the covid lockdowns.

TrumpWonByALandslide 11 points ago +11 / -0

Right after The_Donald was banned. I didn't use Reddit for anything else, anyway.

CnnWillBlackmailYou 11 points ago +11 / -0

It was the gross interference in T_D for me, too. Soon as there was an alternative, I left.

donjongun 10 points ago +10 / -0

Obvious shadowbanning on non political subreddits for posting unpopular political opinions. Couldnt even post on my favorite subreddits so fuck it, that place is horrible

Elrond_Hubbard 8 points ago +8 / -0

The obvious racism towards white people in subs like public freakout

Assassin47 6 points ago +6 / -0

Deleted my account when it was obvious leftism, CRT, trans bullshit, and fake news had invaded hobbyist forums that had nothing to do with politics.

IdahoMan87 6 points ago +6 / -0

I left when T_D canary confirmed Reddit had completely taken over.

FeeFiFoeFi 6 points ago +6 / -0

I used to troll, for fun, some people understood and upvoted because it was funny, and that was the reaction I was looking for, no harm no foul, right?

Then I started getting banned, for having fun. So I changed my tune, started being more serious, fine.

But then they started banning me, even though I was being serious, just because I was disagreeing with the pre-approved narratives.

My last straw was when someone on askreddit asked climate change deniers why they denied it, and I answered a serious reply, and immediately got banned. It was trap question. Fuck them.

resuni 6 points ago +6 / -0

I once made the mistake of answering a question about why Christians are generally against homosexuality. Similar kind of thing where they weren't actually asking the question because they wanted an honest answer.

Rule9 6 points ago +6 / -0

I got banned from the sub of my hometown for having right wing opinions in a red state lol

Genericwhitemale 1 point ago +1 / -0

Red state, our city subreddit is a oUr RepUblicAn goVernEr is ThE deVil circlejerk.

zeppelincheetah 5 points ago +5 / -0

I admit I never left. I mainly use it now to trigger normies with truth bombs. I kinda want to be banned and have that be my way out but it hasn't happened yet.

Rommsey 5 points ago +5 / -0

I had a love hate relationship for years. I blocked most of the popular fakes news or circle jerk subreddits but getting a ban for using the word retard was enough for me to leave for good.

BeetlejuiceForSenate 5 points ago +5 / -0

Censorship and algorithms. Unbalanced representation of both users and reality.

ShadeCat 5 points ago +5 / -0

I left because it was so toxic to be there.

MustafaJones 5 points ago +5 / -0

Very soon after the banner the_donald. After TD was nuked I realized that there simply wasn’t anything on there that interested me anymore. All the subs I used to somewhat like were all taken over cringe inducing leftism and wokeness. Reddit is still useful for some niche communities but overall it’s done for.

6daysandrest 5 points ago +5 / -0

2013 is when I started. I quit after being banned or shadowbanned close to 30 times. They nuked all my favorite forums and banned all the best accounts too.

TheImpossible1 4 points ago +5 / -1

I got banned for calling feminists Nazis planning a genocide.

2Kings616 4 points ago +4 / -0

It was a little after the 2020 election.

I had been viewing TheDonald.win for a while, but really wanted to keep dialogue going in the Christianity subreddit (I still would rather talk TO someone with whom I disagree than ABOUT them).

I just couldn't do it. My last question was about the Biblical instructions concerning stewardship; my position is that these commands required that President Trump not concede the election if he believed it was taken from him by cheating. The responses broke my heart. It was like trying to find ten righteous people in Sodom.

2Kings616 7 points ago +7 / -0

In that final thread, it wasn't simply that the folks in /r/Christianity who disagreed with me had a different interpretation of the Scripture. It was that they were willing to jettison all of it.

_deleted_ 3 points ago +3 / -0

Banning t_d was the straw on the camel's back

resuni 2 points ago +2 / -0

I first quit in 2016 during election season when literally every subreddit was trashing Trump, including subreddits like r/dogs.

After the 2016 election, it seems like things blew over so I began to start frequenting it again. The same shit started happening in 2020 election season, except that's not what made me leave this time. This time, the last straw was the first mass ban of subreddits I believe happened in June of 2020, if I recall correctly.

Over the many years I had been using reddit, I was well aware that it was slowly moving away from being the free-speech platform it sought to be in the beginning. The big purge of subreddits is what really made me realize I couldn't ethically participate on the website anymore. While I am occasionally brought back to specific posts on reddit through web searches, I don't ever expect to frequent it like I used to.

NOT_ADMIN 1 point ago +1 / -0

I was banned several times, and .win came into existence.

coverband 1 point ago +1 / -0

Pedophiles, SJWs and folks encouraging immoral behavior drove me away from Reddit.

Also was on a technical sub-reddit that attracted a bunch of losers that wanted the privileges and prestige without doing any work. Got tired of answering questions that could be found through a simple web search or being down voted for giving prompt and correct solutions.

ABrainDisease 1 point ago +1 / -0

The Jessie Jackson incident.

Torrvarpen 1 point ago +1 / -0

I left when they started to rig the voting system and put random shadow bans on my, why waste my time making good memes if nobody can enjoy them.

DEPORT_DOOMERS 1 point ago +1 / -0

Once I got banned from all the subreddits I trolled

EJGeneric 1 point ago +1 / -0

Consume Product was cancelled. Then I just was using city and local subreddit for awhile. I realized even the non political areas were subject to the reddit hive mind.

Hiromant 1 point ago +1 / -0

I got permanently banned for - get this - liking posts in a wrongthink sub. These people are insane and best left to marinate in their own juice.

krzyzowiec 1 point ago +1 / -0

I left once patriots was made, before T_D was banned. I remember some people were against the new site at first and wanted to stay at reddit, a few even accusing it of being a tactic to destroy the community. I was already pretty sick of reddit’s censorship by then so I jumped at the chance to speak my mind.

I’ve never had a post deleted or been banned from here so I’m very happy with my decision. Never cared for reddit itself. I was always about the community.

johnmic07 1 point ago +1 / -0

censorship. In January when all of the social media companies were censoring heavily I just decided it wasn't worth it. I deleted facebook, twitter, reddit, snapchat, paypal, venmo, discord, and maybe even a few other things. It was a big deal at first but I realized none of those services is important, they just suck up time and money in small ways that aren't easily noticeable. I'm much happier and productive without them.

Tokyo20DrinkingGame 1 point ago +1 / -0

When r/NASCAR started banning people for calling out Bubba Wallace's antics and anyone who dared support the Confederate flag. They think they are representative of the fanbase, but most of the ones who are left are progressives and foreigners. There's an astoundingly large amount of Eurofags there.

I had been banned more times (13) by those mods than I have by the r/Denver actual-communist mods, which is just asinine. So I said the hell with them.

TheRealPizzaPope 1 point ago +1 / -0

Faggot retards

Fistmagic 0 points ago +4 / -4

I don't watch porn so I've never been to reddit.

Don't act like that wasn't why you went there for the first time.

80960KA 5 points ago +5 / -0

I was part of the exodus of bored office workers from Digg, thanks.

_deleted_ 2 points ago +2 / -0

Everyone who was there was watching porn and if you say you weren't, you're lying

Reading this gave me Forest Whitaker eye. You sound reminiscent of parents in the 90's who said "nobody needs a computer" because they lacked the brain power to understand them.

Fistmagic -1 points ago +1 / -2

I didn't know it was possible to watch porn the whole time you were on reddit. You must be the expert.

I just think thats how they built their userbase. Men who just jerked off chatting with other men who just jerked off.

Thats why I never went to reddit. I don't hang out in the pornhub comments, either.

_deleted_ 2 points ago +2 / -0

Wow. In your head this sounded clever, didn't it?

Fistmagic 0 points ago +2 / -2

Its the truth. Its a porno website with a robust comment section. Don't be mad at me because they tricked you.

_deleted_ 2 points ago +2 / -0

"I don't watch porn but everyone else does!"

Let's skip the bullshit.... Are you honestly this fucking stupid? Legit, do you think that everyone who visited Reddit went for porn? Yes or no.

Fistmagic 0 points ago +2 / -2

You need me to type the same thing a fourth way.

I really didn't think anyone here would defend both reddit and porn at the same time but here you are reinforcing my belief.

You are still a redditor.

_deleted_ 2 points ago +2 / -0

Fascinating. Hard to believe you're so confidently wrong. And based on literally zero information.
