No cooking involved: salami sandwich with mayo on white bread

Cooking: fried egg with toast

both were delish.

Over-easy eggs with bacon, and buttered toast. I dropped the toast on the floor by mistake, my mom saw it with out me knowing, and pretended she got a piece of dirt in her mouth.

A quickie beef stroganoff recipe that my mom used to make.

I was explicitly told by my wife and kids never to make that again (or anything else). That's OK. I loved it. Plenty of leftovers for me!

Later, I bought a grill. I was allowed to cook again.

I'm a breakfast guy to this day and I remember my first "meal" was a soft boiled egg. I still love them with a piece of toast.

I tried making stir fry for myself and failed because I didn’t know different veggies cooked for different amounts of time. Then I got a cook book and made pasta with spicy sausage and mushrooms with a Caesar salad and garlic bread. Made it for my college boyfriend (now my husband) for his graduation.

For myself: cereal and milk.

For others:

Scrambled eggs with ketchup and steamed rice.

They didn't want ketchup. I put it on anyway.

Years later I'd learn that people in Japan would fry the rice and set the scrambled egg on top of it before squirting it with ketchup. Omuraisu or Omurice (rice omelette) is the name of this dish.
