Income isn’t anywhere near as important as stability. Become a homeowner first, and everything else will fall into place. When you rent, you’re simply throwing your money away on someone else’s investment. If you’re gonna make payments, at least make them on something that you actually own.

Another huge mistake that young couples tend to make is buying cars from dealerships. Car payments are a huge drain on both the budget and relationship, not to mention the dealer markup. Buy your vehicles private party, without resorting to credit.
