Silkies 😻

I love chickens, had a bunch

I see a Polish too. Is the white a cochin?

Nope that is a silkie as well! Just a bit dirty because we've been getting rain for weeks now 🤣 there's also silver laced wyandottes and blue laced red Wyandottes. And some Ameraucanas in the back somewhere

Chickens are so underrated. I had a bunch several yrs ago and spent a lot of time with them and they were so much more than I expected. I was so amazed by their behavior. Truly one of my favorite times in my life.

Now all my time is spent with horses. My whole life is dedicated to animals lol

I mean I agree lol I'd have horses if I could afford it. I have Danes which are similar to people who make horse jokes 😏🙄 lol we also have rabbits and a garden. So plenty of time taken up by our animals.

I care for a herd of almost 30, dont own them, might as well I spend so much time w them. I love it, all the benefits without the financial burden.

Danes are stunning, would love to have one, my place super small

Your life sounds wonderful 🌞

Mixed fancy breeds? I bought those a couple of those batches from Murray McMurray. Long time ago. So much fun!

Nah, Silkies, Blue Laced Red Wyandottes, Polish, Silver Laced Wyandottes and an Ameraucana in the very back!

OK... that's about what I used to get in a box of "mixed fancy" chicks. Not arguing, just saying.

Oh no you're fine, I knew nothing about chickens when we got into this! Everyone has a different way of saying things, so nothing wrong with that! I've seen some silly barnyard mixes that I'm not a huge fan of most of those! So far the silkies and Ameraucanas are more friendly than the wyandottes! I think some people say most Ameraucanas are mixes if they don't have the puffy cheeks or beards but ours do! That's one of our favorite things about them lol they're silly looking but in a good way! I can only imagine what silkie mixed with a regular chicken would look like!

two up front look like furry banties, guessing they're just half-grown chicks, though, lol

Silkies! They are actually 33 weeks and laying for quite a few now 🙂 youngest are the polish and silver laced wyandottes and the Ameraucana in the back. They're 19 weeks.

Ah. My grandmother used to raise chickens for the eggs before she sold the 'farm' to her brother.

The banty roosters as I recall were notoriously convinced of their own imperviousness.

Are silkies the same way, orrrr?

I think they're funny, they run and they look like they have little pants on lol. We have bigger chickens so I think maybe they keep them in check. The wyandottes are kinda assholes.

Ah. Banties (technically Bantams I guess?) are somewhat notorious in my family for thinking they can take on anybody, till they get the sense knocked back into them by a bigger bird.
